Empowering Students and Educators with AI: New Tools for Personalized and Engaging Learning

We’re excited to announce new AI-powered tools that are designed to enhance the learning experience for both students and teachers. Gemini, our AI designed for teenage students, is now being rolled out globally, along with several AI-driven features for Chromebooks and Google Workspace for Education to make learning more personalized and engaging.

AI-Driven Learning with Gemini

We are bringing Gemini to teenagers to help them learn confidently in a safe and responsible way. Last year, we introduced Gemini for teens using their personal Google accounts, and this year, we’re extending this to students worldwide using school accounts, free of charge. Gemini is designed with input from child safety experts, and we’ve ensured that schools have full control over its usage. Administrators can choose whether to enable it, and parents have access to resources like the Guardian’s Guide to AI in Education to understand its benefits and implications.

Making Learning More Personalized

We’re enhancing personalized learning through several AI-powered features:

Read Along in Classroom: Now part of Google Workspace for Education, this tool helps students develop reading skills by offering personalized reading activities. Educators can track progress and even generate custom stories to meet the specific needs of their students.

Google Classroom Enhancements: New AI features in Google Classroom, including Gemini in Classroom and the LearnLM model, help educators assign differentiated content to groups of students. AI-suggested questions for science videos will also speed up lesson creation.

Supporting Teachers with AI Tools

We’re also focused on empowering educators with AI to improve their efficiency:

Chromebook Plus: With the launch of Chromebook Plus, priced at just $350, teachers can use AI-powered tools like “Help me write,” noise cancellation, and more. Devices from Acer, ASUS, and CTL offer flexibility for various teaching needs.

Google Vids: A new video creation app in Google Workspace, Google Vids will allow students and teachers to collaborate on educational videos. We’re launching a version without generative AI for educators later this year.

Connecting Platforms and Products

To improve collaboration and ease of use across platforms, we’re adding new integrations:

Google Task and Calendar: Stay organized with integrated to-do lists on Chromebooks.

Meet and Assignments in LMS: Integration with Canvas and PowerSchool Schoology will enable students and teachers to use Google Meet directly within their learning management system (LMS).

Student Information System (SIS) Integration: Soon, teachers can sync their Google Classroom with SIS systems like Infinite Campus and PowerSchool to streamline grade exports.

Supporting Safe and Inclusive Learning

Safety and inclusion remain top priorities. We’re rolling out several new features:

Safer Chatting: Admins will have new controls in Google Chat to restrict student interactions, ensuring a safer environment.

Improved Admin Controls: With multi-party approvals and context-aware access, admins will have more tools to protect student data.

Accessibility Enhancements: New read-aloud features, text extraction from PDFs, and facial expression controls for Chromebooks will help make education more accessible to all students. These updates reflect our ongoing commitment to making education more inclusive, secure, and effective. With these AI-driven tools, we are helping educators and students navigate the future of learning with confidence.
